Microsoft Paid Phone Support -- from Costa Rica - Microsoft answer desk - 1-year service contract


Over a period of 5 days MS managed to just about destroy my brand new computer. I knew the problem I had was with Windows 7, so I hired MS to do remote fix -- instead of using local help. Big mistake.
First remote session, MS couldn't fix it. Second remote session, MS made appointment for 2 hour window from Level 2 tech. Never got a call. I called in -- danced through annoying menu again -- promised call within 20 minutes. No call. I called again.Menu dance. Told "MS" system not working!!!! so can't call back now, set up for next morning 2-hour window. No call. I called. Menu dance. Finally got call from level 2 tech. Did remote. Did NOT TELL ME he was going to reinstall Windows. Took all day. He abandoned my fix for long periods inbetween downloads, installs, etc. -- like 45 - hour at a time. Chat window not available. I left for doctor appointment after over 5 hours. Got home. Message on screen: Enter Windows Software License key! Great. Have no idea what it is. Why this IDIOT did write it down or have me write it down BEFORE wiping out install -- no idea. I called again. Menu Dance. Got supervisor. Told they would fix tomorrow when tech is back. I said, "NO. Fix it NOW." Finally after over hour on phone he did remote and put in a new key. Problem I was trying to fix was to get program which allows use of library downloads to work. Still not working, but now, not a Windows error, but something I could fix myself, which I did.
Now, all my settings are gone. All my startup stuff is gone, my external hard drive needs to be re-indexed -- took 4 days the first time -- other programs don't want to run. Basically, I have to spend another couple weeks fixing what they messed up. This computer is 6 months old. Purchased it 1 month after it was assembled. High-end system. Spent couple weeks getting it the way I wanted. Thrilled to have to do it all over again. They promised to give me my money back. Don't have it yet. Also, had very hard time understanding ESL reps from Costa Rica. Think it is great for people to learn other languages, but why MS would hire techs who can barely communicate is ridiculous. Like almost all large American corporations today, they care only about their profit and to hell with the customer. Outsourcing hurts EVERYONE. I will NEVER call MIcrosoft for help again. Never.
