  • Windows Live - unnecessary downloads



    My company sent me a zip file to download today. Windows Live Messenger insisted that I virus scan this file. I have not had this happen before. I have been using Norton antivirus for quite some time. It said I had to find an executable file for my virus software or download Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner. I could not find an executable file for Norton and so downloaded the Windows Live software so I could get this safe file from my employer. I've never been forced to virus scan before.   • XBOX broke 5TH TIME



    I just got off the phone with a supervisor named Ken who works for microsoft for the repair department. I talked to 1 employee who was very interested in a permanent fix to why my system has needed repair for the 5th time in 6 years. He said someone would call me to make sure I get a replacement since I bought mine on day 1 and every year or 2 have had an issue since.     I have been using my XP software since 2002. It had IE6 installed when I bought the computer. From time to time I am asked if I want to upgrade to a different version of Internet Explorer and have done so without incident.     I teach at a community college. We are in the habit of turning off computers when we won't be using them for the next hour or so. I came in yesterday, and all of the computers had been shut down, but were doing updates before they shut off. We were unable to log in.     My name is Joseph Coon and I have xbox live and the subscription price is automatically deducted from my account each month. The expirarion date on my card is 5/11. I got an email from you on 5/6 saying that you tried to charge my card and was unsucsessful because the card was expired.     I've owned an Xbox 360 for 4 years, and this has been one of the worst investments I have made. In that time, i got the ring of death twice, had 1 controller break out of nowhere, a play and charge kit break out of nowhere, and now it no longer reads ANY of my discs.     I have been using Bing Cashback since it began and was very pleased overall until July 30,2010. First, I had no idea the program was being discontinued. Second, I attempted to make a purchase today several hours before the pending cutoff / shut down time of 9pm PST and found the service was already discontinued.     Am a mom of 4 boys and am on our 3rd xbox 360. No fix and just stops working and reading discs. Refuse to buy another after all three already and the money spent on games headsets microsoft points live accounts and so on and so on.     I have several (purchased) versions of Windows on 3 different computers. On one of my PCs I upgraded from 98 to XP home. I purchased the software at Best Buy. I had an issue with the hard drive and have replaced it with a new one. Now when I am trying to re-install Windows XP Home It will not allow me to without the 98 Disk/key (Which I lost).     My son's xbox 360 was hit but it was not by him. It was hit because a kid ran in and tripped over the cord that connected the controller to the console. My problem is that with his playstation 3 and his Wii, you can kick the console and not mess up a game.     In fact, extremely poor. I can't think of any worse experience than I've had with Xbox customer support. A couple of months ago our just over one year old Xbox 360 elite console stopped. I think Microsoft gets a bad rap for no good reason. They make good products at reasonably affordable prices and have literally CHANGED THE WORLD. Give them some credit!!
