Replacements of a defective new product IS A REFURBISHED replacement! - Microsoft Surface


I bought a brand new Surface 3. After 2 1/2 weeks the sound did not work along with a few other minor problems. I spoke to a wonderful support staff member who helped me take care of all the issues except the sound, He tried to reinstall the software, but the sound problem was not fixed. I told him that I would call the next day so that I could order a replacement since the problem was not fixed with the reinstall. I spoke to another wonderful support staff and once the arrangements were made for an exchange for a "new" Surface, I was asked if I wanted to talk to a supervisor regarding the quality of service that I had received. I was more than happy to let them know how happy I was with the help. For some reason I asked the supervisor that I assumed that the exchange would be a new Surface and he stuttered a little, telling me that the exchange would be a refurbished Surface. How can this be if I just spent over $500 on a new Surface? He continued to say that they NEVER send a new replacement for equipment that does not work. I was appalled. It's just like buying and paying for a new pair of socks and getting one that had already been worn but washed to work like new! I'm sharing this information so that people won't get the idea that you will EVER get a new piece of equipment as an exchange for a defective PC no matter how new it is. Now I know how they can pocket billions of dollars! Truly disgusted!
