My Son's Gift Card was defective and unreadable - Xbox Gift Cards

My son received a $15 Gift Card from a friend on his birthday. When he scratched the card to revile the code two numbers came off and the card was unreadable. I got the receipt from the parent who gave him the card and called Xbox for redemption. After 45 min on the line and then speaking two the supervisor (Aldo) I was told there was nothing they can do. I this had happened to me with a $50 Gift Card I was told that I would have to just be stuck. Given Microsoft policy toward Gift Cards I will no longer buy them as gifts.
